Is this furniture appropriate for a Shabby Chic look?
I bought this set for my daughter's room and I am thinking of changing her room to shabby chic? I never really liked the distressed look, but some shabby chic is ok. I don't think I can update these to look clean, fresh and new (which I think I would prefer). I am going to try to step out of my comfort zone and see if Shabby chic would work for her. I just want to know if the furniture seems to fit the romantic, french style. I think it does. I just want to know if it just looks like an old 1980s furniture (that it is), or if it has potential to "work" for that style. My daugher is very girly, so I think she may like it. Thanks!

Yes. That furniture will go very nicely in a 'Shabby Chic' bedroom... very romantic, very French-looking. You don't want brand-spanking new-looking furniture; as such would defeat the entire purpose of the 'Shabby Chic' decor. The furniture you have purchased has great potential!

As well, it couldn't hurt to check-out a couple of books from the library on 'Shabby Chic', and/or see if you can find a magazine or two at your local supermarket. My niece is very into 'Shabby Chic' and I found the most wonderful Decorating magazine (dedicated totally to 'Shabby Chic') at the market... I snatched it right up and mailed it to her! *lol*
You've chosen 'good bones' for your design. Now comes the rest... Colour, Fabrics, and the inevitable 'Bits and Bobs', *lol*. DO NOT forget about an 'Area Rug' to really give your daughter's room the foundation that pulls together the 'polished finish' I think you're after, *s*
